Why SpecPath®?

Our belief is simple.

MAFSI Reps and Manufacturers should have the knowledge, and visibility, to clearly see the sum of their efforts (and hard work) in a comprehensive, easy to use, and straightforward platform. 

With over 15,000 specifications written every year in North America, past efforts at nationally identifying specs were overly ambitious. This, as we all know, is a complicated problem.

But, we believe we’ve hit upon an elegant solution: MAFSI SpecPath®.  A  patent-pending software program/database of all 11-4000 projects in North America that assist our members in collecting and tracking specification credits, and also allow for tracking of origination and destination. MAFSI SpecPath® ensures our MAFSI Reps have the knowledge and information to get paid for every 11-40-00 spec that comes in or out of their territory. It also empowers our manufacturer members by giving them vital business intelligence regarding specification. It doesn't just track specs and projects but will provide real market intelligence; but it has already become an integral part of our industry’s infrastructure.

How does SpecPath® Work?

MAFSI reps upload 11-40-00 specifications for processing, which are then run through the system to sort the data. The system goes line by line, looking for the makes, models, quantities, etc. Once SpecPath® has parsed the data, a real, live, human being reviews the data to ensure it is correct. 

The resulting output is a secure central library curated by MAFSI, and is searchable by reps and manufacturers for only those items in which they have a stake. The items in the library are tied back to MAFSI's membership system, and results are based on manufacturer, rep agency, and location. No one can see anyone else's data. For each and every project, the system tracks the specification, origination, and destination rep by manufacturer and rep firm.

The data will changes daily with every addition of 11-40-00 specs uploaded to the system. Our subscribers diligently monitor the bidding process; consistently updating the awarded dealer resulting in a dynamic, time-sensitive system.

Since we launched the program in July 2016, SpecPath® has tracked:

Additionally, a mini-spec -AKA- a “take-off” is generated for a rep agency to refer to when quoting under the My Mini Specs screen. By simply clicking on a project, you can see just the items on the spec in which you have a stake, saving your inside staff countless hour of manually reviewing a spec.

Who can participate in the program?

  • SpecPath®is an opt-in member benefit to all MAFSI Reps and Manufacturers. Beginning with 11-40-00 specifications, our system is ethical, scalable, protected, and secure. The program is open to all members, both agent and associate, although when the member logs in, they would only be able to see projects in which a specification, destination, or origination credit is detected or their manufacturer brand name is listed.

When will SpecPath® be available to MAFSI Members?
